Portage College has over $350,000 of cash available in the form of awards, bursaries, and scholarships for students. In order to qualify for any award, bursary, or scholarship you must be enrolled in, or have successfully graduated from a program, in addition to fulfilling any specific requirements. Definitions: Awards: An award is issued based on a specific accomplishment by a student. Awards vary in type and include financial or other recognition (i.e. – plaque, congratulatory letter, etc). Bursaries: Bursaries are awarded based on financial need and other criteria determined by the sponsoring sources (i.e. personal background, group membership or affiliation, location of residence, commitment to a return for service, financial need, etc.). The value of bursaries varies. Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, and usually when the student is entering further studies. Scholarships are monetary awards and are normally issued after confirmation of enrolment for a subsequent year of study. We also have an Awards Application Form you will need to fill out and send to the Awards Office at the Corporate Centre in Lac La Biche by mail or fax.
